About The Position

We are excited to post a Staff Accountant position at the Emerald Hospitality Associates corporate office, in Westlake, Ohio. Emerald is a hospitality management company that has a proven track record with award winning hotels throughout its portfolio. The Corporate Accountant is a key member of our accounting team and is responsible for various accounting procedures to ensure the interim financial statements for our portfolio are produced accurately and in a timely manner. This position will provide support to the other members of the accounting team.

Requirements

4-year degree (or equivalent experience) in Accounting or related field.
Strong computer skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
Detail oriented.
Ability to work and monitor deadlines each month.
Ability to multitask.
Ability to communicate effectively.

Nice To Haves

Previous work experience in Hospitality is preferred.

Responsibilities

Understand and comply with all accounting procedures and assist with enhancements.
With the guidance of the accounting and tax manager, gather data from hotels to reconcile and file monthly sales, occupancy, and use tax returns for all entities.
Maintain tax records and schedules for all sales and occupancy taxes.
Ensure timely payment of all sales, use, and occupancy taxes.
Assist Hotel General Managers in proper collection of sales and occupancy tax as well as tax exempt reporting.
Assist Corporate Controller with completion of all month end closing tasks for our portfolio of hotels when needed.
Utilize computer applications to compile, retrieve and summarize accounting information for stakeholders.
Perform various other duties as assigned to meet business objectives.
