Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant accounting experience
  • Experience in payroll systems and processes
  • Deep understanding of basic accounting principles and GAAP
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects or tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Eligibility to take CPA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and process payroll journal entry files to general ledger for the entire company.
  • Serve as the primary liaison from Finance to Payroll to answer all payroll-related inquiries and reporting needs from Field Finance.
  • Review and reconcile payroll funding and daily banking reports to ensure employee net pays and tax payments agree to Workday and the general ledger. Investigate as needed.
  • Perform payroll accounting, including reconciliation of general ledger accounts to ensure accounts are consistent and complete. Investigate and correct as needed.
  • Record workers compensation and benefit allocations for all locations to ensure expenses are recorded at the correct field location.
  • Manage the payroll-related escheatment process by reviewing outstanding checks to stay in compliance with state regulations.
  • Prepare annual compensation reporting for the Tax and Risk Departments to facilitate completion of required filings.
  • Crosstrain with other positions to backfill as needed.
  • Maintain accounting structure within Workday, including new pay components and cost centers to ensure payroll expense is recorded to the correct location.
  • Collaborate with HRIT, Field Finance, Payroll and other stakeholders to support, maintain, and optimize our payroll accounting operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
