About The Position

As a Design Technologist / UX Engineer, you will drive initiatives that empower designers to build modern, world-class experiences for Pinners and Advertisers with high productivity, performance, and quality. You will bridge design and engineering, work closely with a small, innovative design team, and develop creative solutions that maintain design fidelity while ensuring technical feasibility. The role includes contributing to cross-platform design-system libraries, evolving reusable components and standards, and using AI to create prototypes and improve design and engineering workflows. The position can be based anywhere in the country and requires in-office collaboration 1–2 times per year. It is not eligible for relocation assistance.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience as a design technologist, engineer, or UX engineer.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
A proven track record of delivering highly reliable technical solutions that scale.
Deep experience in native mobile UI development, including Android SDK, Kotlin, UIKit, or Swift.
Experience developing a design system or leading design-system initiatives.
Ability to break down large challenges into smaller decisions framed as trade-offs, such as time versus scope.
Experience delivering large cross-functional projects across multiple organizations, with a focus on developer experience, performance, and quality.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Basic awareness of accessibility principles and commitment to further learning.
Demonstrated use of AI to improve the speed and quality of day-to-day work for relevant outputs.
Strong human-in-the-loop practices, including critical evaluation and verification of AI-assisted work through methods such as testing, source-checking, data validation, and peer review.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the strategic technical direction of cross-platform design-system libraries.
Design solutions that address current problems and future scale.
Collaborate with designers, product managers, management, internal business partners, and subject-matter experts.
Maintain design and UX visions through code, applying technical architecture and data to connect design and engineering.
Work within and evolve the design system to meet user needs.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards, guidelines, and reusable components.
Mentor team members and participate in design and code reviews, team processes, and decision-making.
Use AI to create, develop, and distribute high-fidelity prototypes for product alignment and user testing.
Build tooling that helps designers and engineers use AI capabilities in their daily workflows.
