About The Position

Pinterest is hiring a Sr. UX Engineer, also described as a Design Technologist / UX Engineer, to drive initiatives that help designers build modern, world-class experiences for Pinners and Advertisers with high productivity, performance, and quality. The role bridges design and engineering and works closely with a small, innovative design team to find creative solutions while ensuring design fidelity and technical feasibility. The position contributes to the strategic technical direction of cross-platform design-system libraries, develops solutions that work at current and future scale, and collaborates with designers, product managers, management, business partners, and subject matter experts. It maintains design and UX visions through code, evolves design systems and reusable components, mentors teammates, and participates in design and code reviews. The role also uses AI to create and distribute high-fidelity prototypes and builds tools that help designers and engineers use AI in their daily workflows. The role can be situated anywhere in the United States and requires in-office collaboration 1–2 times per year. It is not eligible for relocation assistance. The position is eligible for equity, and the advertised US base salary range is $155,584–$320,320.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience as a design technologist, engineer, or UX engineer.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Proven track record of delivering highly reliable technical solutions that scale.
Deep experience in native mobile UI development, including Android SDK, Kotlin, UIKit, or Swift.
Experience developing a design system or leading design-system initiatives.
Experience breaking large challenges into smaller decisions framed as trade-offs, such as time versus scope.
Track record of delivering large cross-functional projects across multiple organizations and championing developer experience, performance, and quality.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions.
Basic awareness of accessibility principles and commitment to further learning.
Demonstrated ability to use AI to improve the speed and quality of day-to-day work for relevant outputs.
Strong track record of human-in-the-loop practices for critically evaluating and verifying AI-assisted work, such as testing, source-checking, data validation, and peer review.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the strategic technical direction of cross-platform design-system libraries.

Work within and evolve the design system to meet user needs, improving design standards, guidelines, and reusable components.

Use AI to create, develop, and distribute high-fidelity prototypes for product alignment and user testing.
Build tooling that helps designers and engineers use AI capabilities in their daily workflows.
