Sr. Technical Training Engineer

About The Position

As a Technical Training Engineer supporting Alcon’s Global Technical Training & Knowledge Management team, you will analyze technical business needs and determine the skills field personnel need, define training objectives, and build training content with clear, measurable objectives. You will deliver technical training at an engineering level and assess knowledge transfer using prescribed evaluation mechanisms. You will also identify knowledge opportunities and convert them into electronic information for the GTS Knowledge platform. The role manages training equipment, rooms, and resources at Alcon’s Lake Forest, California location. Travel is up to 10%.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of directly related experience; alternatively, high school diploma plus 10 years, associate degree plus 6 years, or master’s degree plus 0 years.
Fluent ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
Two years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Interface with technical service functions to gather information and experience for building and maintaining training content.
Convert engineering procedures, drawings, and processes into training structures and content suited to the current workforce’s aptitude.
Use educational technology approaches to design and build training content.
Deliver technical training using techniques intended to engage learners and transfer knowledge.
Participate in developing and building training manuals for trainers.
Assist with training equipment maintenance and manage the maintenance of assigned training equipment.
Deliver webinars to update field personnel on new information.
Write knowledge articles as requested.
Drive utilization of a blended training approach.
Manage assigned training rooms, including their tools and technology.
Measure knowledge transfer using prescribed evaluation mechanisms.
Identify knowledge opportunities and convert them into electronic information for the GTS Knowledge platform.
