Sr Technical Program Manager Hardware

Pura•Pleasant Grove, UT

About The Position

The Sr Technical Program Manager Hardware owns execution across Pura’s growing hardware device portfolio. The role drives engineering schedules, cross-functional dependencies, and coordination with JDM/ODM partners and vendors so programs ship on time and to specification. It translates ambiguity into executable plans and keeps those plans current as programs evolve. Working alongside Engineering Program Leads and the PMO, the role owns the project execution path: Engineering Program Leads own technical direction, while the PMO owns broader organizational coordination. The position builds integrated schedules and tracks deliverables across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and manufacturing workstreams; identifies critical-path and cross-functional timing risks; coordinates phase gates; and ensures teams have clear timelines before committing to a phase. It also manages program cadence, risk communication, partner accountability, and budget tracking.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of engineering program or project management experience in consumer hardware or connected devices, taking products from concept through mass production.
  • Deep experience managing the hardware NPI lifecycle and EVT, DVT, and PVT phase gates across mechanical, electrical, and firmware workstreams.
  • Proven experience coordinating JDM/ODM partners, contract manufacturers, and vendors and driving timelines, accountability, and technical deliverables with external teams.
  • Strong program management fundamentals, including integrated scheduling, critical-path management, dependency mapping, risk management, and status reporting to technical and executive audiences.
  • Technical fluency across hardware disciplines sufficient to understand trade-offs, pressure-test estimates, and earn engineers’ trust without owning technical direction.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and influence, with the ability to create alignment and accountability across internal teams and external partners without positional authority.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and a fast-scaling environment and turn unclear scope into an executable plan.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience establishing or scaling a program management function or practice as an organization grows.
  • Background with IoT or smart-home devices or wearables hardware.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and supply-chain processes, including DFM, tooling, and production ramp.
  • Fluency with program management tools such as Jira, Smartsheet, or MS Project, and a preference for lightweight, durable processes.
  • Experience supporting an annual or faster product release cadence.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain integrated engineering schedules across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and manufacturing, including milestones, critical paths, and EVT/DVT/PVT phase gates.
  • Drive cross-functional hand-offs and dependencies involving packaging, testing, beta, and manufacturing, surfacing timing risks early.
  • Act as the dedicated technical program contact for JDM/ODM and vendor partners; communicate with partners and hold them accountable for deliverables and dates.
  • Track engineering deliverables to closure, maintain the program risk register, and escalate risks early with mitigation options.
  • Run program cadences and reviews, record decisions and action items, and drive actions to completion.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and timeline changes to engineering, cross-functional partners, and executives in actionable terms.
  • Keep technical direction, engineering execution, and organizational coordination aligned with clear ownership and no gaps or duplication.
  • Work with engineering and finance teams to track and communicate hardware program budget status.
