About The Position

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), the company behind the PlayStation brand, is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager for its global People Technology platform. The role is a senior individual contributor within People Technology Services (PTS), responsible for end-to-end delivery of large, complex technical programs and high-impact cross-functional initiatives. It also serves as the hands-on Scrum Master for the team’s established two-week sprint cadence. The position establishes governance, alignment, and delivery discipline across workstreams, strengthening predictable sprint execution and translating strategic priorities into executable plans. Working within a globally consistent Agile product delivery model, the Senior Technical Project Manager partners with Human Resources, Payroll, Product Leads, Managers, Technical Leads, IT, Data, Security, vendors, and other teams to align priorities, capacity, scope, timelines, decisions, and delivery outcomes. Jira, integrated delivery plans, dashboards, and sprint and program metrics are used to identify trends, advise leaders on trade-offs, and drive continuous improvement. The successful candidate combines Agile, Scrum, and technical program management expertise with systems thinking, technical fluency, executive communication, and the ability to lead across teams, mentor others, and influence decisions without direct authority. The role is based in San Diego and is described as hybrid/onsite.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of technical project or program management experience leading complex software, platform, integration, or infrastructure initiatives.
  • Extensive hands-on Scrum Master experience with technical teams working in recurring sprints, including facilitation of all core Scrum ceremonies.
  • Deep knowledge of Agile and Scrum, including backlog readiness, story decomposition, estimation, capacity planning, sprint goals, impediment management, retrospectives, team coaching, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to lead large, complex, multi-workstream programs involving scope, roadmaps, schedules, governance, risks, dependencies, decisions, testing, change readiness, and release delivery.
  • Advanced planning-tool experience, such as Jira, including board and workflow design, sprint administration, queries, dashboards, roadmaps, and program-level reporting.
  • Demonstrated use of delivery data and sprint or program metrics to improve forecasting, influence priorities, communicate risk, and drive measurable improvement.
  • Strong technical literacy across the software development lifecycle, enterprise platforms, cloud services, and release practices, sufficient to lead technical delivery and understand complex dependencies.
  • Executive-level stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills, including the ability to translate between technical teams, business leaders, and senior decision-makers.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or comparable certification.
  • Experience within People Technology or HR Technology, including Workday or comparable enterprise platforms.
  • Experience with Jira reporting extensions or visualization tools such as eazyBI, Power BI, Tableau, or comparable platforms.
  • Demonstrated success mentoring others, resolving conflict, and influencing outcomes without direct authority in global, matrixed environments.
  • Experience coordinating globally distributed teams, strategic vendors, or enterprise programs involving significant organizational change and cross-functional complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the hands-on Scrum Master for the People Technology Services Team, leading the two-week sprint cadence and facilitating sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews or demonstrations, and retrospectives.
  • Own and improve the team’s Agile operating rhythm, working agreements, backlog readiness standards, and sprint governance.
  • Align priorities, capacity, dependencies, and sequencing across project work, operational support, intake demand, and unplanned work before sprint commitments.
  • Facilitate sprint goals and realistic commitments; monitor progress, impediments, scope changes, carryover, and unplanned work, and lead resolution or escalation when delivery is at risk.
  • Use retrospective insights and delivery data to identify bottlenecks, assign owners to improvement actions, and measure changes to flow, quality, and predictability.
  • Coach Product Leads, team members, and delivery partners on Agile and Scrum practices, role clarity, and shared accountability.
  • Lead complex technical programs and high-impact initiatives from discovery and business case through planning, execution, testing, deployment, stabilization, transition, and closure.
  • Establish program outcomes, scope, success measures, integrated roadmaps, milestones, governance, decision rights, delivery plans, and communication rhythms with sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Maintain integrated schedules, RAID and decision logs, dependency maps, resource plans, and action trackers; surface issues early and assign accountable owners.
  • Coordinate delivery across Product, Integrations, Data, Security, Architecture, Human Resources, Payroll, vendors, and other teams.
  • Work with technical leads to evaluate estimates, sequencing, architecture and integration dependencies, technical risks, and delivery options while respecting technical ownership.
  • Translate strategic priorities and portfolio commitments into realistic program, release, and sprint plans aligned with capacity, business value, technical sequencing, and operational needs.
  • Advise leaders on scope, sequencing, capacity, and trade-offs; establish change governance and prevent unplanned demand from destabilizing committed delivery.
  • Manage cross-program dependencies, resource constraints, sequencing conflicts, and decisions; provide options, recommendations, and impact assessments.
  • Contribute to portfolio planning and governance by assessing initiative health, challenging assumptions, and recommending reprioritization or corrective action.
  • Define and maintain Jira boards, integrated dashboards, and reporting standards covering sprint execution, program health, milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Use sprint and program metrics, including sprint goal achievement, committed versus completed work, carryover, throughput, cycle time, blocked work, milestone performance, and trends, to improve forecasting and delivery decisions.
  • Prepare concise executive updates, decision materials, and data-backed recommendations that explain technical progress, delivery risks, and cross-functional impacts.
  • Identify systemic delivery trends and emerging risks, and lead practical improvements to planning, workflow, governance, and team predictability.
