About The Position
Guitar Center is hiring a Sr. Sales Associate to provide customers with a welcoming, music-focused shopping experience and help them find instruments and gear that meet their needs. The role combines sales, product expertise, customer relationship building, merchandising, store operations, and peer leadership. As a keyholding member of the store, the associate may be called upon to open and close the store as needed. The position offers a creative retail environment with opportunities to develop a career, share a passion for music, and help customers discover music. Guitar Center also offers musicians gig leave to take time off to perform or tour and return to their job afterward. Pay is $14.32–$17.90 per hour plus commission, depending on background and experience; actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.
Requirements
- Passion for music and a solid understanding of various instruments and products.
- Proven sales track record and ability to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to influence and motivate others toward shared goals.
- Flexibility to work additional hours if needed, including nights and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming environment and help customers find instruments and gear suited to their musical interests.
- Achieve and exceed sales targets through effective sales, upselling, and cross-selling of instruments and accessories.
- Maintain expert knowledge of products, including guitars and recording equipment, and help increase the product knowledge of others.
- Build strong customer relationships and help fellow associates develop customer relationships and serve the local music community.
- Organize displays, restock shelves, and maintain the store.
- Guide and mentor team members, support them with customer interactions and operational tasks, and contribute to team performance.
- Open and close the store as needed as a keyholding team member.
