About the position
We are seeking a Risk Data Scientist to join our team at Obligo. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our renter and landlord risk models. Your expertise will be crucial in predicting and monitoring risk, ensuring the stability of our platform in the ever-changing financial landscape. You will collaborate with various departments, including finance and product, to integrate your models into our systems and provide technical leadership in data science initiatives. A strong background in building risk models, proficiency in programming languages, and knowledge of statistical modeling and machine learning techniques are required for this position.
Responsibilities
- End-to-end ownership of Obligo's renter risk model, including monitoring existing models and building new ones
- End-to-end ownership of Obligo's landlord risk model, monitoring landlord behavior and alerting customer success team in cases of abusive landlords
- Utilize statistical techniques to analyze real-world measurements and flag anomalies
- Collaborate with finance department to interpret model outputs into financial KPIs
- Collaborate with product and R&D departments to integrate models into production systems
- Conduct testing and validation of models to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in data science and risk management
- Provide technical leadership in data science initiatives
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Data Scientist in the fintech or financial industry, with a strong track record in building risk models.
- Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, and experience with data manipulation and visualization libraries.
- Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning techniques, and their application to risk assessment and prediction.
- Previous experience working with large datasets, data preprocessing, and feature engineering.
