About The Position

The Sr. Manager, Market Operations is the end-to-end operational leader for building, operating, and scaling Gatik’s presence in an assigned region. Reporting to the Director, Market Operations, this person serves as the primary site lead and is accountable for local fleet performance, depot and yard logistics, fueling infrastructure and practices, safety compliance, customer SLA delivery, driver management, and third-party vendor operations. The role combines hands-on operational leadership with strategic regional growth. The Sr. Manager leads a multidisciplinary site leadership team and manages live commercial autonomous freight routes in a dynamic R&D environment. The role executes and refines local operating practices to support fleet reliability, uptime, efficiency, safety, compliance, and scalable market growth without a linear increase in overhead. The position is onsite five days a week at Gatik’s Phoenix, Arizona office.

Requirements

6–10+ years of operational leadership in freight logistics, depot operations, commercial fleet management, autonomous transportation, or high-velocity logistics hubs.
Proven experience directly managing multidisciplinary teams across functions such as fleet, safety, customer service, field technicians, and shift supervision.
Deep expertise in middle-mile or last-mile freight flows, yard management systems, dock staging, and fleet fueling infrastructure.
Solid mechanical understanding of commercial vehicle systems, including brakes, powertrains, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance.
Hands-on experience negotiating vendor SLAs, managing regional maintenance providers, and holding suppliers accountable.
Willingness to resolve real-time field disruptions onsite at local depots.
Business acumen to connect daily depot execution with commercial growth, vendor costs, and market profitability.
Data-driven approach and skill using KPIs and diagnostic metrics to identify root causes and implement lasting fixes.
Excellent communication and leadership presence when representing Gatik to enterprise clients, municipal officials, and local workforces.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily facility operations, layout optimization, yard traffic, and infrastructure safety.
Direct inbound and outbound staging, route alignment, and schedules to meet customer SLAs.
Manage fueling routines, schedules, and protocols; optimize vehicle turnaround and minimize yard dwell time.
Partner with the local Fleet Manager on medium- and heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, major repairs, lifecycle management, and vendor relationships.
Collaborate with AV Engineering, Hardware, and Product teams on field testing, sensor calibrations, software and hardware upgrades, and diagnostic troubleshooting.
Bridge local technicians and central engineering to expedite vehicle return-to-service cycles.
Lead recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management of safety drivers, field operators, and yard technicians.
Establish shift handover protocols and manage labor and overtime while maintaining accountability across shifts.
Ensure driver recertification on AV software releases, emergency protocols, and local route hazards.
Enforce Gatik’s Safety Management System and PPE policies, and ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, IFTA, vehicle registration, DVIR, HOS, and local fuel storage and permitting requirements.
Direct incident response, vehicle recovery, root-cause investigations, and regulatory reporting in coordination with Safety and Compliance leadership.
Execute the Market Launch Playbook to establish new depots, customer hubs, and expansion routes using Leader Standard Work.
Evaluate route feasibility and build relationships with municipal authorities, landlords, and regional partners to support commercial growth.
Identify operational bottlenecks and improve efficiency so route volume can grow sustainably without proportional increases in headcount or cost.
