About The Position

VICTORIA LOGISTICS CARRIER is hiring Sprinter and Cargo Van owner-operators under a written independent contractor agreement; the company does not hire company drivers. Owner-operators receive access to a large number of freight loads and can negotiate rates with dispatchers. Dispatchers have more than four years of experience and broker contacts. Loads are personalized according to the owner-operator’s preferences.

Listed rates for Sprinters are $0.85–$1.35 per mile for long miles in good areas and $0.85–$1.10 per mile for long miles in bad areas. Canada rates are $1.25–$1.55 per mile. Payment is made within 3–5 business days, with a 3% quick-pay option. The stated operating days are Monday through Friday. The posting estimates a minimum average monthly salary of $8,000 or more, depending on the vehicle, willingness to work, payload, and whether the driver has a Hazmat certificate or TSA/TWIC credentials.

Requirements

• Own a Sprinter or Cargo Van.
• Be a U.S. citizen, resident, green card holder, or holder of work authorization.
• The owner-operator and any drivers must be at least 21 years old.
• The owner-operator and any drivers must speak, understand, and read basic English.
• At least 6 months of driving experience.
• All drivers must be approved, accepted, and registered with VICTORIA LOGISTICS CARRIER before accepting a load.
• Sprinter vehicles must be no older than 2016.
• Vehicles must have at least four straps and PPE.
• Remove all decals from the vehicle.
• Provide vehicle registration and insurance.
• Execute a written independent contractor agreement as an owner-operator.

Nice To Haves

• Russian language ability; Russian speakers are also hired.

Responsibilities

• Operate an owner-operated Sprinter or Cargo Van to accept and haul freight loads offered by the company.
• Work with dispatchers to negotiate rates and select loads that match load preferences.
• Register and obtain approval from VICTORIA LOGISTICS CARRIER before accepting company loads.
• Provide vehicle registration and insurance documentation.
• Notify the company before putting the vehicle on the road after making changes to it.
