About The Position

Provides excellent customer service to customers placing race wagers and using sportsbook operations. Helps customers understand different types of wagers, patiently assists novice customers, and engages customers in friendly conversation. Processes cash transactions quickly and accurately. The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. The role performs the duties of both a Mutuel Teller and Sportsbook Writer, along with other assigned duties. It requires obtaining and maintaining licenses from the Indiana Gaming Commission and Indiana Horse Racing Commission. Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Proficient in spoken and written English.
High school diploma or GED.
Outgoing, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude; comfortable initiating conversations and contributing to a fun environment for guests.
Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays if applicable.
Mathematical aptitude and ability to pass a math test; able to calculate figures and amounts including discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Demonstrated good handwriting skills and a well-groomed appearance.
Ability to work independently and operate a computer and other necessary office equipment using manual dexterity.
Ability to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling guest and employee conflicts.
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; and write routine reports and correspondence.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a license from the Indiana Gaming Commission and Indiana Horse Racing Commission.
Ability to bend, stoop, twist, reach, and kneel repetitively; ascend and descend stairs; maintain equilibrium for an extended period; and stand or walk for extended periods.
Ability to maneuver through all areas of the property and between floors by stairway or escalator.
Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, and depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

At least 6 months of previous cash-handling experience.
Sports enthusiast with an interest in horse racing and sports activities.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and enter betting information into the computer; print tickets and accept money while providing tickets and change.
Maintain the bank accurately and process cash transactions quickly and accurately.
Verify winning tickets and cash or sell vouchers; cash or cancel tickets as necessary.
Address and resolve customers’ concerns and questions, and explain wagering information when needed.
Maintain and update betting boards or televisions for customers to view.
Understand pari-mutuel wagering, including reading tickets sold, using a tote keyboard, and basic racing terminology.
Provide customers with lists of track scratches or race results.
Meet attendance guidelines and follow regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
Promote a positive influence at the company and company-sponsored events, and maintain a professional work environment with management and staff.
Perform assigned duties as a Mutuel Teller and Sportsbook Writer, along with other duties as assigned.
