About The Position
Amgen is hiring a Specialty Representative or Senior Specialty Representative for its Bone Health team. The territory covers Independence, Lee's Summit, and St. Joseph, Missouri. Relocation is not offered. The representative serves as the primary customer contact, providing medical professionals with clinical knowledge of Amgen products and helping them navigate the payer environment. The role implements marketing strategy and promotes Amgen products as directed by the District Manager through in-person and virtual customer engagement. The position focuses on serving patients while achieving territory sales goals, building customer and account relationships, supporting product access, and contributing to territory planning and marketing effectiveness. The level and title will be selected according to the candidate’s qualifications and experience for the geography.
Requirements
- Specialty Representative: Bachelor's degree, or an associate degree and 4 years of sales experience, or a high school diploma/GED and 6 years of sales experience.
- Senior Specialty Representative: Bachelor's degree and 3 years of sales experience and/or non-sales clinical experience in a healthcare or scientific field; or an associate degree and 6 years of such experience; or a high school diploma/GED and 8 years of such experience.
- Advanced influencing and relationship-building skills focused on sales outcomes.
- Adaptability in sales planning and organizing, leveraging business, industry, and technical knowledge, communicating with impact, driving results, and cultivating internal and external relationships.
Nice To Haves
- Sales, marketing, or clinical experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, healthcare insurance, pharmacy services, healthcare medical device, or medical supply industries.
- For Specialty Representative: some experience, pre-graduate sales training, and/or a proven track record of successful leadership under pressure.
- For Senior Specialty Representative: 3 or more years of experience.
- Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, cardiology, inflammation, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, bone health, respiratory, hematology, or infectious diseases and related treatments.
- Local market knowledge.
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration.
Responsibilities
- Provide current and comprehensive knowledge of Amgen products and communicate their clinical benefits to medical professionals to support appropriate product utilization.
- Achieve territory sales goals by delivering branded sales messages, conducting planned programs, scheduling and following up on medical educational programs, and meeting or exceeding sales targets through in-person and virtual engagement.
- Develop and manage account relationships, tailor customer interactions to customer needs, support product access, triage or resolve reimbursement issues, and maintain product contracts.
- Provide feedback on marketing strategy, analyze the effectiveness of sales activities and territory performance, and develop territory plans with the District Manager.
- Partner with colleagues to share best practices and support professional learning and growth.
- Maintain enthusiasm for Amgen products throughout the sales cycle, build the brand, and remain focused on serving patients.
