About The Position
Amgen is seeking a Specialty Representative or Senior Specialty Representative for a Bone Health overlay territory covering Saginaw, Midland, and Muskegon, Michigan. Relocation is not offered. This role serves as the primary customer contact and implements marketing strategy while promoting Amgen products as directed by the District Manager. The representative provides clinical product knowledge to medical professionals and helps customers navigate the payer environment. The role level and title will be selected based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience for the geography.
Requirements
- For Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree, or an associate degree and 4 years of sales experience, or a high school diploma/GED and 6 years of sales experience.
- For Senior Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sales experience and/or non-sales clinical experience in a healthcare or scientific field; or an associate degree and 6 years of such experience; or a high school diploma/GED and 8 years of such experience.
- Advanced influencing and relationship-building skills focused on sales outcomes.
- Local market knowledge.
- Adaptability in sales planning and organizing, leveraging business, industry, and technical knowledge, communicating with impact, driving results, and cultivating internal and external relationships.
Nice To Haves
- Sales, marketing, or clinical experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, healthcare insurance, pharmacy services, medical device, or medical supply industries.
- For Specialty Representative: Some experience, pre-graduate sales training, or a proven track record of successful leadership under pressure.
- For Senior Specialty Representative: 3 or more years of experience preferred.
- Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, cardiology, inflammation, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, bone health, respiratory, hematology, or infectious diseases, including related diseases and treatments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration.
Responsibilities
- Provide current and comprehensive knowledge of Amgen products and communicate clinical benefits to medical professionals to support appropriate product utilization.
- Drive territory sales by delivering branded sales messages, conducting planned programs, scheduling and following up on medical education programs, and meeting or exceeding sales targets through in-person and virtual engagement.
- Develop and manage customer accounts by tailoring discussions to customer needs, supporting product access, triaging or resolving reimbursement issues, and maintaining product contracts.
- Provide feedback on marketing strategy, analyze sales activity and territory effectiveness, and develop territory plans with the District Manager.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and support ongoing learning and growth.
- Maintain enthusiasm for Amgen products throughout the sales cycle, build the Amgen brand, and remain focused on serving patients.
