About The Position

The Specialty Artist – MAC maximizes sales for the MAC brand, including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance, by engaging guests, identifying their needs, assisting with merchandise selection and purchase, and maintaining store standards for cleanliness and replenishment. The role represents Ulta Beauty and MAC to guests and supports the Experience Manager through sales and service performance, guest service and associate culture, and operating procedures and compliance. It requires professional-caliber makeup artistry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.

The Specialty Artist provides personalized makeup demonstrations, applications, lessons, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations; builds guest relationships and clientele; supports brand events and promotions; and keeps current on beauty trends, products, and services. The role also maintains the MAC work area and testers, supports store operations and inventory activities, follows company and brand policies, and protects company assets.

The position requires a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as attendance at brand-sponsored training. Work involves frequent mobility and standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and twisting; continuous lifting or moving of up to 10 pounds; and continuous coordination and manipulation of objects. The pay range is $20.00–$30.00 per hour. Exact pay depends on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Eligible associates may earn overtime as required by law. Requirements

• High school diploma is preferred.
• Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law.
• Ability to demonstrate significant competency in sales, products, and service.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to handle guest concerns positively and proactively and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

• Cosmetics artistry experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed MAC sales and service goals and contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and retail shrink.
• Build and maintain guest relationships, a preferred guest list, and an active MAC clientele portfolio; follow up on guest inquiries.
• Greet and engage guests, personalize service, offer samples, and recommend complementary products and services.
• Conduct professional-caliber makeup demonstrations, applications, lessons, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations in accordance with MAC and Ulta Beauty standards.
• Study and practice skill certification requirements and complete appropriate skill sets within specified time frames.
• Stay informed about and communicate promotions and marketing initiatives across the brand and store.
• Book appointments and support services and in-store events that provide a strong guest experience and meet sales goals.
• Keep informed about industry trends, products, services, ingredients, and benefits during work time.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Contribute to an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and guests.
• Share information about the guest loyalty program, credit, and the Ulta Beauty app with guests.
• Represent Ulta Beauty and MAC by sharing product knowledge, makeup techniques, trends, and MAC programs and philosophies, including Back to MAC.
• Maintain relationships with MAC brand partners by attending required training and participating in events and promotions.
• Participate in ongoing brand and category education and collaborate with store managers and associates to grow the business.
• Follow Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, standards, and the Ulta Beauty and MAC dress code.
• Keep the assigned work area replenished, signed, and faced, and maintain testers in accordance with hygiene standards.
• Maintain store and MAC operational standards, including cleanliness and participation in the MAC recycling program.
• Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, physical inventory, and shipment processing using company- and brand-provided technology and practices.
• Protect company assets by following loss-prevention practices and providing exceptional guest service.
• Complete other operational tasks as directed.
