About The Position

The Specialty Artist – MAC maximizes sales in the MAC brand, including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance, by understanding guests’ needs, helping them select and purchase merchandise, and maintaining store standards such as cleanliness and replenishment. The artist represents Ulta Beauty and MAC to guests and supports the Experience Manager through sales and service performance, guest service and associate culture, and operational procedures and compliance. The role requires professional-caliber makeup artistry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge. The Specialty Artist delivers personalized makeup demonstrations, applications, and lessons; skincare analyses; and product demonstrations. They build guest relationships and clientele, meet sales and service goals, communicate promotions and product knowledge, support appointments and in-store events, participate in training, and collaborate with store associates and MAC brand partners. They also maintain the MAC work area and testers, replenish and present merchandise, support inventory and shipment tasks, follow hygiene and loss-prevention standards, and comply with Ulta Beauty and MAC policies and procedures. The position requires a flexible schedule that may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and attendance at brand-sponsored trainings. Working conditions include frequent mobility and standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and twisting; continuous lifting or moving of up to 10 pounds; and continuous coordination and manipulation of objects. Requirements

High school diploma is preferred.
Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law.
Demonstrated competency in sales, products, and service.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to handle guest concerns proactively and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omnichannel, and retail shrink.
Build and maintain guest relationships, maintain an active preferred guest list, and follow up on guest inquiries.
Greet and engage guests, personalize service, offer samples, and recommend complementary products or services.
Conduct professional-caliber makeup demonstrations, applications, and lessons; skincare analyses; and product demonstrations according to MAC and Ulta Beauty standards.
Study and practice Skill Certification requirements and complete appropriate skill sets within the specified time frames.
Stay informed about promotions and marketing initiatives and communicate them to guests.
Book appointments and support services and in-store events that deliver a strong guest experience and meet sales goals.
Stay informed about industry trends, products, services, ingredients, and benefits to better serve guests.
Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
Contribute to an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and guests.
Communicate the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
Maintain and update an active MAC clientele portfolio.
Represent Ulta Beauty and MAC as a brand ambassador by sharing product knowledge, makeup techniques, trend information, and MAC programs and philosophies, including Back to MAC.
Maintain relationships with MAC brand partners by participating in required training and executing in-store events and promotions.
Participate in ongoing brand and category education to support professional development and MAC sales performance.
Collaborate with store managers and associates to grow the business.
Know and follow Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.
Follow the Ulta Beauty and MAC dress code, including wearing brand assets as directed.
Keep the assigned work area replenished, signed, and faced, and maintain testers in accordance with hygiene standards.
Maintain store and MAC operational standards, participate in the MAC recycling program, and keep assigned areas clean.
Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, physical inventory, and shipment processing using company-provided technology and best practices.
Protect company assets by following loss-prevention practices and providing exceptional guest service.
Complete other operational tasks as directed.
