About The Position

TMC Transportation is hiring a full-time Specialized Operations Fleet Manager. The role uses coaching and leadership skills to manage drivers and achieve goals related to pickup and delivery requirements, revenue, driver productivity, driver retention, and safety. The position reports to Sean Degoey.

Requirements

Four-year degree, preferably in Transportation and Logistics, and/or relevant experience in transportation or a related field.
Fluency in computer applications and keyboard proficiency.
Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress.
Planning and organizational ability, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including good listening skills.
Courteous yet assertive telephone personality.
Ability to sit and use a telephone and computer simultaneously for extended periods.
Ability to speak and hear clearly in a high-volume telephone environment.

Responsibilities

Review driver check calls to determine driver locations and estimated delivery times.
Receive load assignments from Customer Service and review the appropriateness of driver work assignments.
Dispatch loads to drivers, providing load information, loading instructions, directions, routing, and fuel information.
Contact customers for directions and to schedule loading and delivery appointments as needed.
Notify the Customer Service Department about issues or changes that may affect customer expectations or load assignments.
Promote safety throughout operations, including dispatching loads according to drivers’ hours of availability.
Support driver retention by understanding driver requirements and preferences, monitoring performance, and keeping drivers informed and motivated.
Identify, track, and resolve performance issues through driver evaluations and driver route and hold meetings.
Resolve driver conflicts, problems, and requests related to hometime, pay, equipment, and load assignments.
Ensure awareness of and enforce company policies.
Maintain records related to driver performance and productivity.
Participate in Quality/Kaizen teams and attend company meetings as necessary.
