Manager, Fleet Operations
About The Position
The Manager, Fleet Operations leads UniGroup's Fleet Operations team and drives operational performance, fleet utilization, and financial results. The role oversees day-to-day fleet operations, supports a network of agency partners and van operators, and ensures efficient execution of transportation services. It combines people leadership, operational strategy, and business performance, with an emphasis on relationship-building, continuous improvement, and results across a complex transportation network. The position is based on-site at UniGroup's headquarters in Des Peres, Missouri. The manager leads and develops the team, monitors operational and financial performance, optimizes fleet use, supports van operators and agency partners, resolves operational issues, and contributes to customer service and strategic growth. UniGroup is a transportation cooperative supporting the United Van Lines and Mayflower brands through a nationwide agent and van-operator network.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Three to five years of transportation, logistics, fleet operations, or related industry experience.
- Experience leading teams, coordinating operations, or managing cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis; visa sponsorship and employment authorization support are not available.

Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Fleet Operations team through coaching, training, and performance management.
- Identify process improvements and implement best practices to drive operational excellence.
- Monitor revenue, profit margins, budgets, key performance indicators, and overall operational and financial performance.
- Optimize fleet utilization to maximize efficiency and profitability.
- Oversee van operator recruitment, retention, qualifications, and operational support.
- Partner with agency stakeholders to manage transportation orders and support service execution.
- Collaborate with planners, agents, van operators, and internal teams to resolve operational issues and improve results.
- Support customer implementations, account management activities, and ongoing service needs.
- Monitor accounts receivable activity and help maintain strong financial performance.
- Participate in customer and provider business reviews and support strategic growth initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison between UniGroup business units, agency partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Support additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
