About The Position

This position develops and maintains effective relationships with individuals and organizations in support of the Blood Center’s mission. It manages all aspects of volunteer engagement and works with Donor Engagement and Marketing to build volunteer workforce capacity and increase volunteer involvement. The role supports volunteers throughout their lifecycle, from recruitment, selection, onboarding, and training to assignment and scheduling. It addresses day-to-day concerns and conflicts, escalating complex matters to leadership when needed. The Specialist also works with employees to coach and mentor volunteers, maintains engagement data in volunteer software, and builds positive relationships with volunteers and blood donors to foster appreciation for their contributions. The position networks and cultivates partnerships with corporate, community, and educational organizations to increase awareness and participation in support of the organization’s mission.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Three years of experience cultivating business relationships and working with volunteers.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a nonprofit organization.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare, or a related field.
Experience with direct oversight of volunteers.
Volunteer Leadership or Volunteer Management Certification.

Responsibilities

Manage and build volunteer engagement to increase the organizational volunteer workforce capacity and volunteer involvement.
Develop effective recruitment programs to ensure volunteer availability.
Support the volunteer lifecycle, including selecting, onboarding, training, assigning, and scheduling volunteers.
Address day-to-day volunteer or individual concerns and resolve conflicts, working with leadership on complex conflicts as needed.
Communicate effectively and build positive relationships with volunteers.
Work with employees to coach and mentor volunteers.
Compile and track accurate volunteer engagement data using a volunteer software database.
Build positive relationships with volunteers and blood donors to reinforce appreciation for their contributions to the mission.
Network and cultivate partnerships with corporate, community, and educational entities to increase awareness and participation in support of the organization’s mission.
