About The Position

This is a full-time, year-round position for a Special Education Teacher at South County Academy. The role involves providing specialized and individualized instruction to students with significant emotional/behavioral and learning needs within a clinical residential school setting. The teacher will be responsible for developing and monitoring student Individual Education Programs (IEP) in compliance with Department of Education regulations. Collaboration with the management team is essential to ensure the safety, stability, and wellbeing of residents placed through the Department of Children, Youth and Families.

Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Teaching or Education
RI Certification in Special Education
Experience with children with behavioral/psychiatric challenges
Skilled in operating various medical record software and hardware, word-processing, and database software programs
Excellent multitasking and communication skills a must
Ability to work independently and part of a team
Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, registration and auto insurance
Ability to communicate effectively
Travel to and from community locations and office site, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators
Ability to lift up to 20lbs

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with the management team to ensure safety, stability and wellbeing of residents in our care that have been placed through the Department of Children, Youth and Families
Provide emergency coverage; ratio to the programs as needed
