About The Position

Mid American Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial institution focused on serving its members and providing quality financial services. The Special Accounts Representative (Collections) performs member servicing and collections work, including contacting delinquent and negative-share accounts and helping members bring accounts current. The position is not remote or hybrid and is based in a shared, climate-controlled work area with standard office noise and minimal temperature fluctuation. The role involves telephone, some video-call, and in-person interactions with members and coworkers. Candidates who accept an employment offer must complete a background check before being hired.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Six months to two years of similar or related experience.
Experience delivering exceptional service while exhibiting empathy and patience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail.
Ability to multitask.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to lift 10 pounds.
Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and walk while performing job duties.
Successful completion of a background check after accepting an employment offer and before hiring.

Responsibilities

Use several computerized systems to verify members while providing member servicing.
Contact delinquent accounts and negative share accounts by phone and mail.
Take appropriate action to have members bring accounts current.
Analyze the financial situation of delinquent borrowers.
Recommend further action when other arrangements to bring a loan current are unsuccessful.
Maintain accurate files and reports on collections activity.
Inform the supervisor of trends in loan underwriting that contribute to delinquent or charged-off loans.
Regularly file loan files and other collection-related documents.
Complete and adhere to annual training regarding BSA/AML compliance.
Complete periodic training on updates to policies and procedures.
