About The Position

The Spanish Children's Ministry (Nino's Con Vida) - Classroom Teacher I is a part-time, non-exempt position responsible for ensuring quality ministry takes place in the assigned classroom or role within Lakewood Church's Spanish Children's Ministry. This position reports to the Spanish Kidslife Director. The role involves ministering to children aged 0-12, caring for their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, teaching the assigned curriculum with enthusiasm, and ensuring a positive experience for children, parents, and staff. As an employee of Lakewood Church, this role also includes ministerial duties, requiring an uncompromised commitment to the church's vision, values, and core beliefs, maintaining a lifestyle consistent with the Scriptures, and active participation in the church community.

Requirements

  • Fluent in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Ability to relate to children of all ages, parents, volunteers, other staff, and leaders in positive ways.
  • Ability to lift 20lbs or more.
  • Willingness to make requested changes to work schedules.
  • Maintain a cooperative and respectful attitude.
  • Ability to be gracious, kind, and loving, even under intense pressure.
  • Open to correction and responsive to volunteer and staff leadership.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in one or more areas of responsibility.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience volunteering, daycare, or teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of volunteering, daycare, or teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Minister to children in a classroom, including teaching, guiding, and comforting them.
  • Care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of children.
  • Engage all children in the assigned area at their developmental stage.
  • Teach the assigned curriculum with enthusiasm.
  • Ensure that quality ministry is taking place in the assigned classroom or role.
  • Actively pursue opportunities to assist with transitions, challenging behaviors, and extra duties with a positive team attitude.
  • Ensure that parents and children, and other Niños-Con-Vida staff and volunteers have a positive experience with Niños con Vida.
  • Inspire volunteer commitment in others.
  • Arrive at the assigned areas on time, prepared, and ready to work.
  • Maintain flexibility to work with children of all ages (0-12), different personalities, and different roles.
  • Maintain professionalism and a Christ-like attitude in dealing with parents and other Niños con Vida personnel regarding sensitive and confidential information.
  • Complete all paperwork and classroom clean-up as assigned.
  • Attend all Niños con Vida team meetings, staff meetings, and area trainings.
  • Communicate schedule changes in a timely manner, and with all involved personnel (including the area coordinator and each ministry leader affected).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance at Church services and classes.
  • Be a happy giver and a generous member regarding tithes and offerings.
  • Serving as a Prayer Partner or as a volunteer in any ministry of the Church.
  • Serving our community through local outreaches from time to time when needed by the Church.
