About The Position

Champions Club is the special needs ministry of Lakewood Church, specializing in ministering to kids, teens, and adults with special needs and the medically fragile. Champions Club meets the developmental needs of individuals with special needs in four important ways: Spiritually , Intellectually , Emotionally, and Physically . Our focus is on spiritual growth through Gods Word, developing the intellect of each participant through the five senses via various learning tools, and engaging the child physically during active motor fun. This position reports to the Champions Club Director.

  • Able to regularly lift up to 20 pounds
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 6 months experience volunteering, daycare, or teaching experience

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Certifications/Education related to Special Education protocols is preferred
  • Previous experience working with special needs students is preferred
  • Specific ABA experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Minister to our special-needs children/members in a classroom, inclusive of teaching, guiding, and comforting them
  • Care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the children/members
  • Engage all children/members in the assigned area at their developmental stage
  • Teach the assigned Champions Club curriculum with enthusiasm
  • Ensure that you are delivering quality ministry in the assigned classroom or role
  • Ensure adherence to all Child Safety & Emergency protocols and trainings as defined by law and Lakewood Church policies
  • Assist with transitions, challenging behaviors, and individualized needs with a positive team attitude
  • Model a Christ-like attitude at all times
  • Create an environment that facilitates a positive and supportive experience for parents, children, staff, and volunteers
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that promotes unity and effective partnership
  • Demonstrate positive actions that inspire volunteer commitment in others
  • Maintain professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Maintain flexibility to work with children of all ages, personalities, and in various roles
  • Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to work in assigned areas
  • Communicate schedule changes in a timely manner with management
  • Complete all required paperwork and assist with classroom clean-up as assigned
  • Support weekly administrative tasks and assist with special projects as assigned
  • Perform weekly upkeep of ministry equipment and inventory
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels of cleaning and curriculum supplies for services
  • Prepare classrooms for guest tours and presentations
  • Launder and maintain ministry linens, including jerseys, blankets, seat covers, and tablecloths
  • Attend all team meetings, staff meetings, and area trainings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Regular attendance at Church services and classes
  • Serving as a Prayer Partner or as a volunteer in any ministry of the Church
  • Serving our community through local outreaches from time to time when needed by the Church
