About The Position

Hillside Fellowship believes that Jesus Changes Everything! Discipleship is a byproduct, as we know and make much of Jesus. The Hillside Kids Midweek Ministry Caregiver provides a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment for children (infant through 5th grade) during midweek ministries and events. This role supports families by creating consistent opportunities for care and discipleship while parents participate in studies, fellowship, and worship. Working under the leadership of the Hillside Kids Team Lead, this role focuses on engaging children through age-appropriate teaching, activities, and intentional care, while ensuring a high standard of safety, consistency, and hospitality.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates a maturing relationship with Jesus Christ and embodies the culture and values of Hillside Fellowship (Galatians 5:22-23)
  • Has a heart for serving children and supporting families within the church community
  • Must be a member of Hillside Fellowship or willing to pursue membership within six months of hire
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must pass a background check and adhere to Hillside’s child protection policies
  • Must obtain MinistrySafe certification and complete Tier 2 training within required timeframe
  • Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills
  • Ability to engage children in a positive, nurturing, and structured environment
  • Demonstrates flexibility and problem-solving skills in a dynamic ministry setting
  • Works well as part of a team with a servant-hearted, collaborative approach

Nice To Haves

  • Regular attendance at Hillside Fellowship for at least six months preferred
  • Minimum of one year of childcare experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times, following Hillside’s child protection policies and procedures
  • Provide attentive care, including support with hygiene needs, snacks, and transitions between activities
  • Maintain appropriate child-to-caregiver ratios and remain present and engaged with assigned children
  • Prepare and lead age-appropriate lessons and activities, including Bible teaching, prayer, worship, and play
  • Create a consistent and welcoming environment that supports spiritual, social, and physical development
  • Engage children in a way that reflects the love of Jesus and encourages connection and participation
  • Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled ministry time to prepare rooms, materials, and activities
  • Follow and enforce all Hillside Kids and Hillside Fellowship policies and procedures
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitized environments before, during, and after ministry activities
  • Communicate clearly with the Hillside Kids Team Lead and Event Coordinator regarding any concerns or needs
  • Assist in supervising and guiding volunteers as needed
  • Attend required trainings, equipping sessions, and ministry meetings unless prior arrangements are made
  • Be available to support additional Hillside Fellowship events as agreed upon
  • Adapt to varying ministry needs with flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to serve
  • This role may include additional responsibilities as needed to support the mission and leadership of Hillside Fellowship, with the scope of ministry growing and adapting as organizational needs change
