About The Position

Waste Connections is hiring a Sorter for its team in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. The role involves manually separating recyclables from waste on a fast-moving sorting line, removing contaminants, and maintaining a clean work area. The position starts at 4:00 a.m. and averages approximately 10–11 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with a 4:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. shift on Saturdays. The posting estimates approximately 10 hours of overtime per week, paid at time and a half after 40 hours.

Requirements

• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to repeatedly lift at least 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Pick and separate recyclables, such as plastics, metals, paper, and cardboard, from waste on a fast-moving sorting line.
• Remove trash, non-recyclable materials, and hazardous contaminants to ensure clean commodity streams.
• Keep the work area, sorting line, and surrounding floors clean and clear of debris.
