About The Position

Databricks is seeking a customer-facing Solutions Architect to help communications, media, entertainment, and games customers adopt the Databricks Unified Analytics Platform. The role combines knowledge of Databricks technologies, open-source projects, and cloud ecosystems to solve customers’ data and AI challenges and deliver strategic business value. The Solutions Architect identifies use cases, develops architectures and solutions, and guides customers through implementation. The role partners with sales, builds trusted customer relationships, and contributes expertise to internal subject matter expert groups. It reports to the Solutions Architect Leader supporting the relevant business segment. Travel to customers may be up to 30%.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in a customer-facing pre-sales, technical architecture, or consulting role.
• Comfort communicating ideas to varied audiences through presentations, whiteboarding, architecture discussions, and platform demonstrations.
• Experience designing and architecting distributed data systems.
• Ability to program in and debug at least one of Python, Scala, Java, SQL, or R.
• Experience building solutions with public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience in at least one of the following: data engineering technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka; data warehousing such as SQL, OLTP/OLAP, or DSS; or data science and machine learning technologies such as pandas, scikit-learn, or HPO.

Nice To Haves

• Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Operations Research.
• Databricks certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to customers evaluating and adopting Databricks Data and AI solutions.
• Consult on big data architecture and implement proofs of concept for strategic customer projects, data science and machine learning projects, and integrations with cloud services and third-party applications.
• Build and present reference architectures, technical guides, and demonstration applications for customers.
• Provide escalated support for critical customer operational issues.
• Develop expertise in and evangelize Databricks-driven open-source projects, including Apache Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow, and Koalas, through developer community meetups, conferences, and webinars.
• Support fellow Solutions Architects and drive cross-functional relationships across the company.
• Travel to customers up to 30%.
