About The Position

Databricks Solutions Architects lead adoption of the Databricks Unified Analytics Platform and help customers solve data challenges by combining Databricks technology with broader cloud and technology ecosystems. In this customer-facing role, the Solutions Architect identifies use cases, develops platform architectures and solutions, and guides customers through implementation to deliver strategic business value. The role partners with sales to build customer relationships and serve as a trusted advisor.

The Solutions Architect develops expertise in cloud platforms, data engineering, analytics, data science, and machine learning, and advocates the Lakehouse paradigm and Databricks-driven open-source projects. The role collaborates across the company and contributes to subject matter expert groups. It reports to the Solutions Architect Leader supporting the relevant business segment and involves travel to customers up to 30%.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in a customer-facing pre-sales, technical architecture, or consulting role.
• Experience designing and architecting distributed data systems.
• Ability to program in and debug at least one of Python, Scala, Java, SQL, or R.
• Experience building solutions with public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience in at least one of the following: data engineering technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka; data warehousing such as SQL, OLTP/OLAP/DSS; or data science and machine learning technologies such as pandas, scikit-learn, or HPO.
• Comfort communicating ideas to different audiences through presentations, whiteboarding, architecture discussions, and platform demonstrations.

Nice To Haves

• Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Operations Research.
• Databricks Certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to customers evaluating and adopting Databricks Data and AI solutions.
• Consult on big data architecture and implement proofs of concept for strategic customer, data science, and machine learning projects.
• Validate integrations with cloud services and third-party applications.
• Build and present reference architectures, technical guides, and demo applications for customers.
• Provide escalated support for critical customer operational issues.
• Become an expert in and evangelize Databricks-driven open-source projects, including Apache Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow, and Koalas, through developer-community meetups, conferences, and webinars.
• Support fellow Solutions Architects and drive cross-functional relationships across the company.
• Partner with sales to build customer relationships and act as a trusted advisor.
• Travel to customers up to 30%.
