About The Position

NOVO Health Services is seeking a Soiled Sorter at its Skokie facility. NOVO provides linen management solutions to the healthcare industry, with a focus on safety, infection control, and efficient linen utilization. Its regional healthcare linen facilities are HLAC accredited and use modern processing equipment and processes.

The Soiled Sorter works at the sorting belt, sorting laundry by item type and size. The role requires working in a noisy, fast-paced environment and maintaining quality standards for soil sorting and cart cleaning. Associates must follow safety procedures and policies and may perform other duties as assigned. The position requires meeting physical demands throughout the entire 10-hour shift.

Starting pay is $17 per hour. NOVO describes a safe, positive work environment with opportunities for growth and advancement.

Requirements

• Ability to work in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, and stack individual items from the machine for long periods.
• Demonstrated customer service and organization skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to meet the physical demands for the entire 10-hour shift, including standing, walking, reaching overhead, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting 50 pounds or more, and stooping.

Nice To Haves

• High school education, GED, and formal education or training.
• One to two years of experience in healthcare, manufacturing, or a similarly situated industry.

Responsibilities

• Sort large items, including bath blankets, flat sheets, draw sheets, and thermals.
• Sort underpants, patient gowns, and fitted sheets.
• Sort other items, including bath towels, washcloths, hand towels, and scrubs.
• Adhere to quality standards for soil sorting and cart cleaning.
• Understand, observe, and adhere to all safety procedures and policies.
• Assist with and perform other duties as assigned.
