Lumos
•$155,000 - $200,000•Remote

About The Position

Lumos is hiring a Software Engineer on its NHI Platform team to evolve the non-human identity data backbone that supports every Lumos product. The engineer will build, operate, and improve robust, scalable, and reliable platform software that transforms raw identity inputs from third-party integrations into trusted, insight-rich data for product consumers. The role is part of a greenfield team, and its systems will become foundational infrastructure for Lumos products. The position is remote-first, with work permitted within ±4 hours of Pacific Time.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of professional backend or platform engineering experience building production systems that other teams depend on, such as ingestion, sync, or event-driven pipelines.
  • Strong backend fundamentals, including experience building REST or gRPC APIs and services backed by relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
  • Experience evolving schemas on live database tables.
  • Attention to data correctness, including idempotency, ordering, retries versus permanent failures, and dead-letter handling.
  • Experience deploying containerized services to AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience debugging with metrics, traces, and logs, and participating in an on-call rotation.
  • Interest in building platform systems from the ground up.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Kafka, Temporal, or change data capture tools such as Debezium.
  • Experience with Terraform.
  • Familiarity with identity data such as accounts, entitlements, service accounts, and API keys.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and operate systems that transform high volumes of identity data from third-party integrations for product consumers, with correctness, freshness, and operational rigor.
  • Contribute to the technical vision for data infrastructure that provides engineering, product, and AI teams with seamless access to high-quality data.
  • Establish SLOs, observability, and operational tooling to catch and remediate identity data system failures before they reach customers.
  • Promote and implement software engineering best practices for scalable, reliable, and secure data-centric applications.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with 100% of employee premiums and 60% of dependent premiums covered.
  • HSA and FSA available with employer contribution.
  • Mental health resources and support.
  • Monthly wellness stipend for gym memberships, fitness apps, and other wellness needs.
  • Life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • Flexible PTO with a minimum annual requirement.
  • Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • $1,000 annual learning stipend for courses, books, conferences, and certifications.
  • Company and team offsites, fully covered by Lumos.
  • 401(k) with employer matching.
  • Equity.
  • Remote-first culture.
