About The Position

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a Platform Software Engineer to design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software for enhancements and new products. The role covers software systems such as operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools, and may involve determining hardware compatibility or influencing hardware design.

At this technical leadership level, the engineer applies advanced subject-matter knowledge to complex business issues and partners with functional and technical project teams. The role leads multiple project teams and development partners across the stages of complex product and platform development, from solution design and analysis through coding, testing, and integration. It also provides software systems leadership, drives the adoption of new technologies, and mentors less-experienced staff.

The position is designated onsite, with the expectation that the employee will primarily work from an HPE office. The stated Colorado base salary range is USD 132,500–252,500 annually; variable incentives may also be offered. The job application period is estimated to close November 16, 2026.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Typically 6–10 years of experience.
• Extensive experience with multiple software systems design tools and languages.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions.
• Experience designing and integrating software systems running on multiple platform types into an overall architecture.
• Experience evaluating software systems testing forms, processes, and methodologies, including writing and executing test plans, debugging, and using testing scripts and tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery of English and the local language.
• Ability to communicate product architectures and design proposals effectively and negotiate options at senior management levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple project teams of software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners through all stages of design and development for complex products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration.
• Manage and expand relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on software systems design and development.
• Review designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards, and provide feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
• Provide domain-specific expertise and software systems leadership to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
• Drive innovation and integrate new technologies into software systems design projects and activities.
• Guide and mentor less-experienced staff members.
