About The Position

Really Great Reading is seeking a Software Developer, Business Systems & Automation to design and build internal applications, integrations, and AI-powered automations that connect business systems and improve operational efficiency. This role is crucial for evolving the internal technology ecosystem as the business grows, aiming to eliminate manual work, improve data flow, and allow teams to focus on serving educators. The successful candidate will transform business needs into scalable technology solutions, working across platforms like HubSpot, NetSuite, DealHub, Avalara, and Drupal-based applications. Success means delivering reliable applications, thoughtful automations, and well-designed integrations that reduce manual effort, enhance data quality, and boost team efficiency while ensuring security, scalability, and maintainability.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience designing and developing full-stack web applications and system integrations.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools and building AI-powered agents or automations (Claude Code, Gemini, or equivalent).
• Experience integrating third-party systems using REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, or similar technologies.
• Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and version control systems (Git).
• Ability to gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
• Strong written communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with HubSpot, NetSuite, DealHub, Avalara, or similar business systems.
• Experience developing Drupal (PHP) websites or applications.
• Experience with Python and/or React.
• Experience building custom AI agents or working with automation platforms such as Make or Celigo.
• Experience with business intelligence, reporting, or data analytics.
• Experience in education or education technology.
• Professional proficiency in both French and English.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain internal applications, dashboards, reporting solutions, process automations, and administrative tools.
• Build scalable solutions that improve internal workflows and reduce manual effort.
• Gather requirements from business stakeholders, recommend practical solutions, and deliver iterative improvements based on user feedback.
• Continuously improve existing applications to support evolving business needs.
• Build and maintain integrations across HubSpot, NetSuite, DealHub, Avalara, and Drupal-based websites and applications.
• Develop and support integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, and related technologies.
• Ensure reliable data flow and system interoperability across business platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues while maintaining data integrity.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Gemini, or equivalent technologies to accelerate software development.
• Design, build, and maintain AI-powered agents and automations that improve internal business processes.
• Evaluate opportunities to apply AI responsibly, balancing innovation with reliability, security, and data privacy.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code following established development best practices.
• Collaborate closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business needs into working software solutions.
• Work independently in a fully remote environment while contributing effectively to team initiatives.
• Participate in ongoing improvements to development practices, architecture, and internal tooling.
