About The Position

The Social Services Aide is a paraprofessional position that, under general supervision, assists Social Workers with designated tasks intended to improve family functioning and support child and adult services. The role relieves Social Workers of routine work, including client assessments for the In-Home Support Services program, instruction in parenting and household management skills, and other tasks related to child and adult services. The position requires a lower level of skill and training than a professional Social Worker. Incumbents receive supervision from a Social Worker Supervisor or another higher-level supervisor or manager. The position is located in Weaverville, Trinity County, California, and is in-person only; teleworking and remote work are not available. Duties may involve maintaining a caseload of elderly clients receiving household services, assessing client needs, documenting case information, making referrals, supporting families, monitoring care for abused children, supervising parent-child visits, providing emergency child care, and transporting or accompanying clients to appointments. The aide may testify in juvenile court and serves as a liaison between clients, professional staff, and community resources. Applicants must meet one of the stated qualification pathways: qualifying college coursework, two years of full-time social services experience, or a qualifying combination of education and comparable experience. Applicants using education to qualify must attach transcripts. The selection process uses an examination weighted 100%, with a minimum score of 70% required to be placed on the eligible list. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
