About The Position

The Staff Services Analyst I is an entry-level professional position performing analytical work in general administration, staff development, fiscal, and/or program areas. This fiscal-focused position is located in Trinity County, California, and is in-person only; teleworking and remote work are not available. The stated area of focus is quality assurance review of Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (MAA) time studies for designated staff, resolution of discrepancies with program partners, and preparation and processing of accurate MAA invoices for all claiming units to ensure compliance with program requirements. Under close supervision and the direction of a higher-level employee, the incumbent performs assignments that are generally limited in scope. As experience is gained, the employee receives more independence. Most incumbents are expected to promote to Staff Services Analyst II after one year of satisfactory performance, although positions restricted to routine, repetitive analytical duties may remain at the Analyst I level. The role may include ancillary supervision of clerical or technical employees, but does not supervise other professional staff. General analytical work includes gathering, tabulating, analyzing, and presenting data; consulting with employees and officials; preparing reports and recommendations; reviewing proposed legislation and advising management about potential impacts; making decisions in financial and other administrative systems; and preparing correspondence. Fiscal-option work additionally includes fiscal analysis and recommendations concerning fund balances, transactions, budgets, revenues, expenditures, and financial data; completion of the quarterly County Expense Claim to the State of California; account balancing and reconciliation; and fiscal oversight of contracts, grants, and other funding or expenditure sources.
