Social Media Specialist - Sports

Catena Operations Ltd.Miami, FL

About The Position

The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day organic social media management for Catena's US sports brands, with additional coverage for other verticals such as casino, sweepstakes, and prediction markets as needed. The primary goal is to establish and maintain a sports-native presence on platforms frequented by bettors. Content will encompass data cards, live-game reactions, picks and lineups, explanations of legality, and odds visualizations, all while ensuring clear affiliate disclosures and directing users towards email capture and product engagement. As a media and affiliate company, the focus is on producing sports-native content for a betting-literate audience, rather than running operator advertisements. This role is integral to the broader Marketing team, collaborating with Content and SEO for amplification, Lifecycle/CRM for lead nurturing, Multimedia for production, and Legal/Compliance for adherence to regulations. The position will leverage AI tools to enhance production and measurement, subject to mandatory human review and legal compliance.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on social media experience in sports betting, DFS, sports media, or sports-adjacent brands (2+ years acceptable with a strong sports betting or media portfolio).
  • Genuine US sports fluency, including NFL, NBA, and MLB, with an understanding of spreads, props, lines, and DFS, enabling independent writing on these topics.
  • Native or near-native English proficiency with strong, platform-native copywriting skills, particularly for X.
  • Short-form video production skills (CapCut, Premiere, or equivalent) to create and publish clips or cards during live games without external design support.
  • Experience with social media management platforms such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or equivalent.
  • Basic to intermediate analytics skills, including GA4, platform-native insights, and UTM tracking.
  • Comfort with AI-assisted content workflows that include human and Legal review processes.
  • Willingness to work US sports hours, including Sunday, Monday, and Thursday evenings during the NFL season as regular working hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Background at a sports betting media brand, DFS platform, sportsbook, or sports affiliate.
  • YouTube packaging skills, including titles, thumbnails, and Shorts strategy.
  • Data visualization skills using tools like Flourish, Datawrapper, Figma, or Canva.
  • Experience with Reddit and Discord community management.
  • Familiarity with US iGaming and affiliate compliance, including state-by-state legality, responsible gambling, and FTC disclosure.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, produce, and publish sports content across strategically selected platforms according to a content calendar.
  • Create event-driven, data-visualized content including stats cards, infographics, odds snapshots, injury alerts, lineup confirmations, and real-time sports moments.
  • Produce short-form video content (TikTok, Shorts, Reels) using site data, existing assets, and live events with tools like CapCut or Premiere.
  • Utilize AI-assisted workflows for content ideation, draft generation, and scheduling, ensuring all output undergoes human QA and compliance review.
  • Repurpose and amplify content across channels in collaboration with Content, SEO, and Multimedia teams.
  • Tag all links with UTM parameters according to internal standards.
  • Monitor and grow a sports-native audience on platforms such as X, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, and Discord.
  • Manage the Sprout Social Smart Inbox for sports brands, responding to the community, identifying trends, and capitalizing on engagement opportunities during major events.
  • Coordinate creator and host content with the Head of Social, Legal, and Multimedia in preparation for major sporting events and seasons.
  • Track and report weekly on sports KPIs, including publishing cadence, engagement rate by platform, email signups from social, inbound traffic, and branded search growth.
  • Own objectives for the sports brands and report progress to management.
  • Continuously test content formats and series, measuring results, logging learnings, scaling successful content, and discontinuing ineffective content.
  • Execute the sports social strategy set by the Head of Social and propose tactical improvements based on performance data and competitive intelligence.
  • Work from the editorial calendar and site data, rather than generating topics independently.
  • Provide insights back into content creation processes (prompt repository, knowledge files) to enhance automated output quality.
  • Collaborate closely with SEO on content distribution, quality outreach, and EEAT signal building.
  • Partner with Lifecycle/CRM on email capture funnels, Pick'Em games, and offers to ensure social leads are integrated into the nurture pipeline.
  • Collaborate with the Content team on the author social program to increase LinkedIn visibility for sports journalists.
  • Ensure all content adheres to gambling regulations (e.g., 21+ messaging, responsible gambling, affiliate disclosure, banned terms), platform policies, and state-specific availability by working with Legal and Compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
