About The Position

Runway is seeking a Social Media Lead to build the strategy and operating model for its social media presence. The role serves audiences including filmmakers, artists, developers, researchers, and enterprise teams, giving each channel a clear purpose and ensuring major moments—such as model launches, research releases, film festivals, and conferences—receive coordinated distribution. The Social Media Lead will set a point of view on where and how Runway should appear, help researchers, engineers, creatives, and executives share their work credibly and authentically, and work with creators as collaborators. The position combines hands-on contribution with strategic leadership and operational ownership. The role is open to remote hiring across the United States. Runway also has offices in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, London, Paris, and Tel Aviv.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in strategic social media or related marketing programs.
  • Track record of building social strategy and its operating model, including prioritization, agency and contractor management, workflows, measurement, and executive alignment.
  • Excellent editorial judgment and an instinct for what feels credible and native on each platform, especially X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Fluency across film, art and creator cultures, AI and startups, venture capital, and Silicon Valley, with the ability to translate technical research for broad audiences.
  • Comfort with performance and brand measurement, including distinguishing correlation from impact and running disciplined tests.
  • Hands-on familiarity with generative AI tools, including Runway, and curiosity about their development.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift with each launch.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 years of experience at a top-tier technology, consumer, media, or entertainment company.

Responsibilities

  • Set Runway’s social strategy, raise the creative bar, and build a calendar that supports an always-on presence and major launches.
  • Define a distinct role for each channel, including X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and emerging community platforms.
  • Determine who should lead each story—Runway, a researcher, executive, creator, customer, or partner—and develop its distribution plan.
  • Partner with Research, Product, Communications, and Brand to turn model launches, research papers, and product updates into native, credible social content.
  • Guide and coach researchers, engineers, and executives on sharing their work, and coordinate amplification of their posts.
  • Work with the Community team, partners, and the creator community to feature work made with Runway.
  • Establish a social scorecard and use insights to improve the work over time.
