About The Position

Magnific is seeking a Social Media Associate to own Upscale’s social presence across YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X. Upscale is Magnific’s event brand focused on creativity, AI, design, and technology, including Upscale Conf and Upscale Days in cities around the world. The role serves an audience of enterprise clients and creative professionals, including filmmakers, agencies, studios, brands, and technology teams. The associate will create and publish polished, relevant content before, during, and after events. This includes filming, interviewing, editing, writing, generating images and videos with AI tools, and adapting visual assets. The role also contributes to social strategy, email communications, community engagement, and performance tracking. The position is part of the Field Marketing team and is based in San Francisco with a hybrid work model. Frequent domestic and international travel is expected, about one to two trips per month.

Requirements

Be creative and outgoing, and comfortable approaching strangers with a camera.
Bring ideas, pitch new formats, and help keep the work fun.
Thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment; take feedback well and adjust quickly.
Maintain high standards for work and strong attention to visual detail.
Have sharp copywriting skills in native or bilingual-level English.
Be comfortable writing for email as well as social media and adapting stories for each.
Understand how to make enterprise content engaging and accessible.
Understand the creative AI world, including its tools, people, and conversations.
Provide a portfolio of social content personally created, shot, edited, and written.
Have strong capability with generative AI tools for image and video, and tools such as Claude and ChatGPT for writing, research, design, and everyday work.
Have strong video-editing skills using tools of choice.
Be ready for frequent domestic and international travel, approximately one to two trips per month.

Nice To Haves

Basic Figma or design skills.
Experience covering events or conferences.
Interest in the broader design and technology community.
A strong visual aesthetic sense.
A good sense of humor, evident in captions.

Responsibilities

Manage Upscale’s YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X accounts, including planning, posting, and community replies.
Work within Upscale’s social media and communications strategy and help develop it.
Travel to Upscale Conf and Upscale Days to create content on site.
Create pre-event promotion, live event coverage, and post-event recaps, while maintaining a consistent story between events.
Capture behind-the-scenes content about planning, production, setup, and the team.
Interview speakers, attendees, and partners on camera.
Manage YouTube content, including talks, interviews, recaps, and Shorts.
Edit and produce video in styles and formats suited to each occasion.
Write captions, hooks, social copy, and email content, adapting stories to different channels and audiences.
Create content about the work and people in the field, not only about Magnific or Upscale.
Spotlight speakers, partners, and sponsors in useful and engaging ways.
Curate and repost community work with appropriate credit.
Help manage Upscale email communications, including newsletters, event sends, and post-event follow-ups.
Use generative AI tools, including Magnific, to create videos and images.
Adapt visual assets from templates in Figma.
Track content performance and adjust accordingly.
