About The Position

The Social Media and Content Associate owns Cardozo Law School's social media presence and produces the content that drives it, in support of student recruitment, alumni and donor engagement, and national reputation. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Marketing & Communications, the Associate is Cardozo's day-to-day voice across Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, and emerging platforms. This is a hands-on content role. The Associate plans and maintains the social content calendar, drafts and schedules posts, manages the community through daily engagement and response, and creates short-form video, a primary channel for reaching prospective students. The Associate also conducts social listening, exercises editorial judgment on sensitive and time-critical content, and escalates emerging reputational issues to the Associate Dean. Additional responsibilities include reporting on social media performance and recommending adjustments, sourcing and organizing photo and video assets, coordinating logistics for brand shoots and podcast recordings, and guiding student assistants and members of the Cardozo community who contribute content. The Social Media and Content Associate is one of five marketing and communications professionals who lead the function for Cardozo. The role requires occasional evening and weekend coverage of Cardozo events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related discipline
  • 2+ years professional experience in social media management, design, editorial, video, blogging, and/or content creation
  • Experience reporting on and interpreting social media metrics.
  • Experience with Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, and other social media platforms
  • Experience filming and editing short-form video for social; familiarity with CapCut, iMovie, Premiere, or similar.
  • Experience with social scheduling platforms, particularly Sprout.
  • Very strong writing and communication skills
  • Experience growing accounts and audiences on social media
  • Professional communicator, cooperative and capable of having frequent interactions with multiple stakeholders across the institution

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with both organic content and paid social media advertising preferred
  • Experience using a web content management system preferred

Responsibilities

  • Draft and schedule posts across social media platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and other relevant platforms
  • Create and maintain social media content calendar
  • Conduct social listening across platforms for emerging issues and trends
  • Exercise editorial judgment on sensitive and time-critical content; escalate emerging reputational issues to the Associate Dean promptly.
  • Manage social media community through daily engagement, commenting, and prompt replies to DMs as appropriate.
  • Work with Yeshiva University team and/or external designers to create social media graphics
  • Incorporate short-form video across social media platforms, particularly targeting prospective student recruitment and enrollment
  • Source and organize needed photography and video assets for social media promotions
  • Assist in scheduling and logistics for brand photo and video shoots
  • Assist with podcast scheduling and file uploads
  • Analyze and report on social media and podcast performance; make data-informed recommendations
  • Supervise and guide student assistants or members of the wider Cardozo community to create social media content.
  • Produce editorial content for web newsroom, print, and other projects as needed.
  • Requires occasional evening and weekend event coverage to capture the experience across social platforms.
  • This position may supervise part-time student assistants or volunteers
