About The Position

Rue Insurance’s Small Business Producers generate new small commercial business with accounts under $25,000 in premium. The role focuses on prospecting, developing client relationships, identifying coverage needs, and converting qualified opportunities into new business. The Producer is expected to maintain a strong sales pipeline, meet established sales goals, and contribute to profitable agency growth while delivering professional, high-quality service.

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position in the Commercial Sales department. The salary range is $50,000–$70,000 plus commission. The position reports to the Director of Sales.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong interest in sales.
• Positive attitude and desire for coaching.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Energetic, motivated, and dedicated team player.

Nice To Haves

• Valid Property, Casualty, Life, and Accident & Health licenses.
• Experience with Applied Systems EPIC.
• Business-to-business sales experience.

Responsibilities

• Generate new business through consistent prospecting and outreach to qualified small commercial prospects.
• Schedule prospect meetings and conduct consultative sales presentations.
• Gather business and underwriting information to understand prospect needs and develop appropriate insurance solutions and quotes.
• Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified prospects through referrals, networking, centers of influence, and other prospecting strategies.
• Build relationships with clients, prospects, industry contacts, networking groups, centers of influence, and internal team members to generate business opportunities.
• Identify target industries and develop niche expertise through prospecting, networking, and participation in relevant associations and groups.
• Recommend appropriate insurance coverage and identify opportunities for additional coverage based on client needs.
• Introduce clients and prospects to Rue Insurance’s products and services and connect them with other departments where appropriate.
• Maintain strong client relationships and provide appropriate oversight of account activity.
• Provide clear, proactive customer communication and work to meet or exceed client expectations.
• Monitor market conditions, carrier capabilities, competition, and industry trends relevant to small commercial businesses.
• Document prospecting, sales, and client activity accurately in the agency management system in accordance with agency requirements.
• Apply sales techniques, strategies, and best practices introduced through agency sales training.
• Meet or exceed established performance metrics and annual sales goals.
• Participate in Sales and Company meetings by sharing experiences, market knowledge, sales strategies, and best practices.
• Represent the company professionally and ethically.
• Perform other duties and projects assigned by Agency Management.
