About The Position

DuPont is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer for its Healthcare Industries Materials Site (HIMS) in Hemlock, Michigan. The plant produces silicone-based materials for the healthcare industry. The position reports to the Manufacturing Technology Manager and receives additional training and guidance from the HIMS maintenance leader. As part of the Manufacturing Technology organization, the Reliability Engineer collaborates with operations and maintenance teams to define and implement the site's Reliability Strategy. The role provides technical expertise in reliability, equipment, maintenance engineering, assessment, and monitoring for process equipment. It conducts reliability studies on existing equipment and recommends improvements to equipment philosophies, strategies, and practices to support asset productivity. The role leads equipment reliability, using analysis to enhance value and providing some first-response, day-to-day troubleshooting for failed equipment. It also contributes to improvement and capital projects, supporting equipment design, selection, implementation, and startup in close coordination with other engineering disciplines and operations. Limited travel may be required based on project responsibilities, including travel to other DuPont sites or external parties such as equipment suppliers.

  • At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in cross-functional settings with operators, mechanics, engineers, management, other leaders, and consultants.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve equipment and production issues through teamwork and data-driven analysis.
  • Experience with capital and/or improvement projects as a manufacturing representative.
  • Proven skills with management-of-change work practices in a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of preventive-predictive maintenance programs, such as lubrication, vibration, and thermography.
  • Ability and desire to lead the site's Reliability Strategy and programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and objectives and adapt to additional roles to meet site and business needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and represent DuPont externally, including with suppliers as needed.

  • Conduct plant improvement audits, identify gaps in work practices, and help define the business value of improvements.
  • Support capital replacement and improvement projects by setting equipment criteria and specifications and providing technical support for fabrication, installation, and startup.
  • Lead small site projects or work with other engineers to implement projects, and implement maintenance and reliability procedures for new equipment.
  • Develop and implement equipment asset plans using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and other reliability techniques.
  • Support continuous improvement by analyzing equipment trends and historical data, recommending and justifying improvements to achieve the lowest life-cycle cost, assessing the impact of process variation and equipment operation on reliability, and developing or improving standard operating procedures.
  • Lead or technically review manufacturing process changes, applying expertise in management of change and change-of-design processes.
  • Participate in maintenance and reliability networks and share best practices and key learnings.
  • Support process safety by leading and participating in Pre Start-up Safety Reviews (PSSR) and participating in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
  • Promote machine safety, maintenance safety, and safe work practices.
