About The Position

Conducts NYPA’s financial and accounting operations. Prepares, collects, and interprets financial information. Prepares budgets, reports, forecasts and statutory returns. Conducts financial analyses of proposals, investments and fund sources. Manages the organization's taxation affairs, manages cost accounting systems and cash flow. Controls treasury and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. This job family also includes jobs responsible for accounting administration activities such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit, collections, billing, and invoicing. Ensures compliance with financial transaction recording standards. Prepares reports/schedules for internal and/or external audiences, including consolidation of financial statements, Balance Sheet, Income Statement, cash flow reporting, and Business Unit Profit & Loss reporting. Prepare monthly variance reports including margin analysis.

Requirements

  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, quantify, interpret, and report statistical data for presentations to make recommendations that support business strategy.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and project management skills with exceptional follow through and attention to detail. Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects within varying competing deadlines.
  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented, with ability to build relationships across all levels of stakeholders.
  • Think strategically, to proactively understand customer needs, and provide solutions to overcome obstacles.
  • Proficient in advanced technologies of Office 365 including SharePoint and creating Excel pivot tables, v-lookups, macros, advanced charting functions, etc., and financial information processing systems.
  • Experience in working with ERP finance system required

Nice To Haves

  • data warehousing and enterprise asset management (Maximo) a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in Finance or Accounting preferred.
  • Experience working with complex union rules/regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Verify that all accounting and budgeting activity is in accordance with Corporate Policies and Procedures.
  • Advise on Corporate financial policies and internal controls, communicating new and revised financial policies and procedures.
  • Participate in internal financial audits and ensure requests for site financial information are completed; identify and respond to compliance issues in a timely manner; partner with senior site management in achieving site goals.
  • Prepare the annual O&M and Capital budget in accordance with established schedules and guidelines, collaborate with site and cross-functional teams to develop an annual budget, and support the development and maintenance of site and Business Unit short- and long-range work plans.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reports, analysis and other monitoring tools to support the goals and targets for the site and Business Units.
  • Train, develop and supervise site staff, to be in compliance with Corporate Policies and Procedures and internal controls.
  • Prepare and review any potential revenue items, and ensure timely and accurate revenue reporting in accordance with accounting standards, and coordinate collection of receivables.
  • Participate in corporate and site system and process improvement activities as needed on enterprise management systems.
  • Approve and audit expenditures and commitments in accordance with Expenditure Authorization Procedures.
