About The Position

The Bike and Ski Shop Mechanic is a member of the retail store Shop team who assembles REI equipment and provides shop services, including servicing and repairing bikes and/or snow sports equipment to industry standards. The role also provides customer service in the shop and on the sales floor by sharing product and service knowledge, making recommendations, and helping customers confirm that their equipment is fitted correctly and maintained. The position may include work in the rental department. Mechanics maintain equipment and a clean, secure, and safe work environment, and report quality and safety issues to shop managers. The schedule is flexible based on business needs. The position pays $19.19–$21.77 per hour.

Requirements

Demonstrated technical skills and proficiency.
Complete required training and certifications.
Ability to transfer 40 pounds.
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
Enjoy communicating and building relationships inside and outside the organization.
Set practical goals and establish priorities to achieve business goals.
Organize and use resources to meet deadlines, and communicate plans and progress.

Responsibilities

Assess customer needs and assist with transactions.

Follow REI loss-prevention and safety procedures.

Assemble REI equipment and service and repair bikes and/or snow sports equipment.
