About The Position

REI Co-op seeks a Bike and Ski Shop Mechanic to provide customers with knowledge, recommendations, and service in a retail store shop. The mechanic assembles REI equipment, services and repairs bikes and/or snow sports equipment to industry standards, and provides customer service in the shop and on the sales floor. The role may include working in the rental department. The mechanic helps customers confirm that equipment is fitted correctly and maintained, and shares knowledge of REI products and services.

• Demonstrated technical skills and proficiency.
• Complete required training and certifications.
• Ability to set practical goals, establish priorities, and organize resources to meet deadlines and business goals.
• Ability to communicate plans and progress.
• Ability to transfer 40 pounds.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Assess customer needs and assist with transactions.
• Participate in REI Sales and Service Training and promote REI goods and services.
• Maintain equipment and help ensure a clean, secure, and safe work environment.
• Produce quality work that meets or exceeds industry standards.
• Report quality and safety issues to shop managers.
• Follow REI loss prevention and safety procedures.
• Assemble REI equipment and service and repair bikes and/or snow sports equipment.
• Provide customer service in the shop and on the sales floor; the role may include rental department work.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
