About The Position

The Shop Helper provides support to onsite management and technicians. The role involves maintaining an organized shop, assisting technicians with onsite and in-shop work, completing assigned tasks independently, delivering parts or equipment, and assisting with routine equipment maintenance and repairs. The Shop Helper records work hours, parts used, and work performed, and responds to management requests in a timely manner.

Regular attendance and physical presence at work are essential. The employee may also be asked to perform additional duties to meet business needs. Work takes place in a professional office environment and in the field, including potentially noisy manufacturing facilities.

Requirements

• Working toward a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn and take direction from others.
• Highly disciplined and organized.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to work independently.
• Effective problem-solving ability.
• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to meet the listed physical requirements, including talking or hearing; standing, walking, handling objects, and reaching; and occasionally sitting, climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Vision abilities including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Clean and organize the shop inventory of tools and parts.
• Follow directions and assist technicians with onsite work and in the shop.
• Work independently on assigned tasks.
• Deliver parts or equipment.
• Assist with routine equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Keep records of work hours, parts utilized, and work performed.
• Handle other requests from management in a timely manner.
• Maintain regular attendance and physical presence at work.
• Perform additional duties as needed to meet business needs.
