About The Position

The Shop Foreman assists in leading a maintenance enterprise and ensures that Service Technicians, equipment, and materials are used effectively to maximize productivity. The role promotes efficiency and customer satisfaction by ensuring rental equipment is properly maintained and repaired. The Shop Foreman works closely with the Service/Branch Manager and applies leadership, service, and maintenance knowledge to help build a profitable location. Strong performance in this position may lead to advancement to Service Manager. This position is designated Safety Sensitive under United Rentals’ policies and procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma required.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
At least 5 years of experience repairing and maintaining equipment and tools.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
Must own tools applicable to the position.
Extensive knowledge of construction equipment and an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
Strong diagnostic and repair skills across a variety of systems.
Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Trade-school degree.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the activities of Service Technicians.
Train and supervise mechanical personnel when necessary.
Ensure the safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment.
Diagnose equipment issues and supervise repairs to ensure work is completed efficiently.
Maintain complete and timely daily paperwork and electronic documentation of work performed, including work orders.
When required, travel to customer job sites to repair or maintain rental or customer-owned equipment.
Maintain the service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
