About The Position

The Shoe Fitter provides professional shoe-fitting solutions for inpatient and ambulatory patients. The role evaluates patients’ physical disabilities, diseases, and deformities to determine appropriate footwear, and works with medical providers, therapists, and shoe manufacturers to identify and order suitable options. This is an individual position involving a variety of cases with minimal supervision and requiring innovation and creativity in solving issues.

The position is based in Newark, New Jersey, is categorized as experienced-level sales, and lists a day shift. Travel may be up to 50%.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain a shoe fitter certification.
• Knowledge and ability to assist in evaluating foot needs across a diverse population.
• Strong interpersonal skills when working with diverse populations.
• Knowledge of disabilities and diseases related to pedorthics.
• Ability to work collaboratively and participate in a team approach.

Nice To Haves

• Candidates with a background as a Certified Shoe Fitter, Pedorthist, or Podiatrist (DPM) will be considered, provided they meet the role’s required certification and qualification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients with physical disabilities, diseases, and deformities to identify appropriate footwear solutions.
• Consult with medical providers and therapists to determine suitable footwear options for patients.
• Measure patients’ feet and take appropriate measurements to ensure correct footwear is ordered.
• Work with shoe manufacturers to order the best footwear option.
• Fit and deliver shoes to patients.
