About The Position

The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for managing all outbound shipments, assigning tasks to forklift drivers, ensuring daily completion of PIT checks and 5S tasks, processing ADP for associates, and ensuring accurate completion of BOL/ASN. The role also involves reviewing safety items in daily team meetings and completing all necessary paperwork before the end of the production shift.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, engineers, leadership and customers.
  • 1 to 3 years logistics management experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Supply Chain Management or any related field.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods.
  • Duties include turning at the waist, reaching, bending, squatting and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to pass static strength requirements (grip).
  • Visual acuity including, but not limited to: NEAR ACUITY, FAR ACUITY, DEPTH PERCEPTION, COLOR VISION, FIELD OF VISION.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with manufacturing software.
  • Professional Knowledge, Skills: Glass production principles and technological process; all business processes by the company; conditions for raw material, unfinished and finished products storage.
  • Company rules and regulations, quality policy, target and commitment.
  • Shipping process, storage, and company procedure.
  • Provide logistics supplier with necessary document for custom clearance and ASN releases, check bill of lading.
  • Make shipment plan and vehicle schedule.
  • Warehouse plan and daily management of finished product warehouse.

  • Certain plan, organization, coordination ability and leadership.
  • Certain analytical and judging ability.
  • Ability to lead and instruct others.
  • Maintain effective communications with manager of shipping and receiving, operations team, plant schedulers and quality control.
  • Knowledgeable of work instructions and IATF16949 systems.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for arranging loading of shipments, planning of layouts and shipping priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with shipping specifications from the customer, including barcoding format, ship times, Advanced Shipping Notices (ASN), etc.
  • Ensure accuracy of shipping records.
  • Supervision of team functions: assigning tasks to fork lift operators, releasing requirements in Plex, preparation of shipping labels and Bill of Lading documents.
  • Provide truck loading layout instructions to forklift drivers.
  • Stage shipments to cover first three hours of the following shift and ensure shipping confirmation information is completed correctly prior to shipments.
  • Train all new and existing shipping employees on essential job functions, including PLEX functions, and maintain training records.
  • Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product delivery.
  • Resolve problems concerning transportation carriers, logistics system or customer concerns.
  • Coordinate any expedite situations with customer, carrier, production and/or quality.
  • Approve time records and requests for time off for shipping employees.
  • Control Overtime cost and ensure all safety and department policies are followed.
  • Resolve internal employee issues, concerns and complaints, and use Fuyao corrective action flow when policy is not followed or rules broken.
  • Responsible for health and safety of employees.
  • Participate in continuous improvement practices and ensure associates are involved by being included in improvements.
  • Make sure all docks are working properly and trucks are locked into dock.
  • Ensure employees have the equipment and tools to properly perform, including PPE, forklifts and propane tanks.
  • Ensure all parts are scanned into staging lanes prior to shipment.
  • Assign 5S and housekeeping duties to maintain a high standard of facility cleanliness and confirm tasks are completed daily.
  • Fulfill assignments/tasks given by Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
