About The Position

Coordinate and optimize daily truck and rail transportation activities to support uninterrupted plant operations. This role balances equipment and asset availability, executes shipment planning and scheduling, monitors in-transit performance, and partners with internal teams and carriers to resolve exceptions—while maintaining safety, compliance, service reliability, and cost control. The Senior Transportation Supervisor will also be responsible for weekly and monthly reporting, demurrage set-up tracking and collection, quarterly switch claims, Power BI updates, auditing various estimates and invoices, and entering equipment lease invoices. Additionally, this role supports the projects team across the full project lifecycle and participates in rotating on-call/weekend coverage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3 plus years Tyson transportation experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office; Tyson Business Computer Systems to include Plant and Sales Inventories, Sessions, SAP, TES, QTS, and Power Bi a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Daily planning & scheduling: Review production needs and shipment schedules; prioritize loads; confirm equipment/rail asset availability; assign routes and release/spot orders within required cutoffs.
  • Execution & monitoring: Track shipments using TES, QTS, and rail websites; validate ETAs; identify delays, dwell, bunches/droughts, and service risks; document exceptions and missed switches as applicable.
  • Carrier and stakeholder coordination: Communicate with carriers, plants, sales, rail operations, trucking operations, and maintenance/repair partners to execute shipments, manage repairs and bad-order/damaged assets, and resolve service interruptions.
  • Forecasting & asset management: Maintain railcar and/or equipment forecasts (e.g., tank/hopper/reefer as applicable); manage return pipelines, diversions, and storage strategies to keep adequate days of supply and support production.
  • Compliance, safety & documentation: Ensure required permits, loading documentation, and regulatory/plant safety requirements are current and followed; maintain accurate system data and shipment records.
  • Cost, billing & performance: Control detention, storage/PECS, and freight costs through proactive decisions; ensure timely, accurate billing and prevent holds or missed shipments due to documentation/billing issues.
  • Fleet Management: Weekly and monthly reporting. Demurrage set-up tracking and collection on past due amounts. Quarterly switch claims. Power BI updates. Audit shop, HM216, and MRU estimates and invoices. Audit storage and private empty car storage invoices. Assist global freight audit with questions regarding freight invoices. Enter equipment lease invoices. Audit repairs and compliance tracking sheets. Quarterly updates of TAFC and CHFC in sessions.
  • Reporting & continuous improvement: Maintain dashboards and operational reporting; reconcile shipments; capture lessons learned; support process improvements and digital enablement across the logistics workflow. Support the projects team across the full project lifecycle—planning, scheduling, organizing actions, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Participate in rotating on‑call/weekend coverage as assigned and present team topics or updates when required.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours when necessary. Overtime or extended hours may be required during peak periods.
  • Occasional vendor and onsite visits to strengthen collaboration.
