About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Lead is responsible for shipping and receiving activities within the Production Control and Quality Assurance departments to support conformance to customer delivery schedules. The role prepares products for shipment, coordinates freight pickups, handles incoming shipments, maintains inventory and related records, and performs material handling using a forklift. The position also assists with month-end inventory activities as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment.
Ability to properly count, weigh, and verify finished goods and raw materials.
Working knowledge of computer operations, including data entry and basic office skills.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.
Valid forklift operator’s license.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization in writing, verbally, and by computer.

Responsibilities

Prepare products for timely shipment to end customers and outside processing vendors according to company procedures and customer requirements.
Complete shipment records, bills of lading, internal shipping documents, and carrier-specific forms accurately.
Verify and record items loaded for shipment and complete shipping reports.
Schedule freight pickups with carriers.
Track inbound and outbound freight.
Compare freight company costs.
Unpack and perform limited receiving of incoming shipments.
Verify items received against purchase orders and note discrepancies.
Complete receiving documentation and enter purchase order receipts into the receiving log/DBA database.
Weigh and verify raw material.
Reject damaged items and record shortages.
Maintain filing systems for outbound bills of lading and returned goods.
Generate raw material inventory identification labels.
Maintain finished goods and raw material inventory, including performing cycle counts and weekly inventory counts.
Assist Purchasing and Accounting with resolving receipt and invoice discrepancies as needed.
Operate a forklift for material handling.
Assist with month-end inventory activities as needed.
