About The Position

The Shift Supervisor directs associates’ activities during a specific shift and ensures assigned job expectations are completed while policies and procedures are maintained. The role is based at California State University - LA. Schedules are available as full-time or part-time, Monday through Friday, with hours that may vary; weekend availability is required. Prior supervisory experience is required. The pay range is $22.00 to $25.00 per hour. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until the openings are filled. Because this role provides services in an educational facility, work may not be required during some periods, such as winter and summer breaks, when food-service needs decline or cease. Such periods may be unpaid and treated as a temporary layoff. Depending on business needs, associates may be required to work year-round, potentially at a different location during break periods.

Requirements

Prior supervisory experience is required.
Weekend availability is required.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Direct associates’ activities during a specific shift and ensure assigned job expectations are completed while policies and procedures are maintained.
Provide training and create work schedules.
Evaluate workers’ performance, reward high performers, and discipline employees who fail to meet reasonable performance standards.
Prepare production or sales reports for management and ensure the unit meets quality, productivity, and safety expectations.
Serve as the contact person for employees with complaints or requests for time off.
Mentor and develop employees and encourage them to set goals and strive for advancement within the organization.
Perform other duties as assigned.
