About The Position

As a Shift Leader at Whataburger, you lead restaurant shifts to maintain operational excellence and quality, service, and cleanliness standards. You coach and develop Family Members, promote teamwork and collaboration, and help the team deliver a positive customer experience. You partner with the Restaurant Manager team to strengthen your leadership and shift-management skills and operational foundation. The role is based primarily at the home restaurant, with occasional assistance at neighboring locations or leadership support within the Market. You may also participate in business meetings, training, and leadership sessions. The position requires open availability to meet business needs, including overnight, weekend, holiday, and variable hours.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent experience.
Have open availability to meet business needs, including overnights, weekends, holidays, and variable hours, and maintain dependable attendance.
Be able to stand for up to 10 hours and lift up to 55 pounds.
Have experience coaching or leading teams.
Have strong customer service, communication, and multitasking skills.
Possess ServSafe Food Certification or be able to successfully obtain and pass the exam during training.

Responsibilities

Lead shift management to maintain quality, service, and cleanliness standards.
Coach, train, and motivate Family Members, supporting their skills development and confidence.
Support goals related to food cost, labor cost, sales performance, and basic inventory processes.
Uphold food safety, workplace safety, sanitation, and compliance requirements.
Foster teamwork, communication, accountability, and a positive work culture.
Prepare, lead, and transition shift operations.
Support daily restaurant operations and, when needed, assist neighboring locations or provide leadership support within the Market.
Participate in business meetings, training opportunities, and leadership sessions.
